Vaccinated. Boosted. Now what?

You’ve been vaccinated and had your booster. What’s next? Continue to practice the usual safety precautions like social distancing, appropriate masking, handwashing and testing. If you possibly have been exposed, be sure you are tested. Remember, a negative test doesn’t always mean you are in the clear. You may have tested too early or received a false-negative result. If you feel sick, avoid contact with others and get tested as soon as possible.

All of this is especially important right now as the holidays approach and family members are visiting from other parts of the country. Encourage family members to obtain a test before coming to visit and after flights. It’s helpful to have over-the-counter COVID test kits on hand. One such kit, BinaxNOW, is available at CVS and Walgreens. It’s also a good time to replenish and check expiration dates on aspirin, ibuprofen, tissue and other cold relievers in your medicine cabinet.

With the new Omicron variant spreading in the U.S., we all need to continue to be vigilant. Visit the Medical Center’s COVID-19 Dashboard for the latest Ocean Reef-specific numbers, and the Community COVID Corner for the latest information about boosters, vaccinations and guidelines.

Happy Holidays — and remember to get your flu shot!
