Movement is Life!

For more than a decade, Miguel Gonzalez, PTA, has been a fixture in the Medical Center’s Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine Department. His calming and confident demeanor, combined with more than 19 years of clinical and leadership experience, provides his patients with exactly what is needed to return them to optimal movement again.
“Movement is Life — lets get you back to playing the sports you love,” Miguel frequently tells his patients.
Supervisor of the department, Miguel is a licensed and board-certified Physical Therapist Assistant, Certified Athletic Trainer and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, and is completing his MDT (McKenzie Method of Mechanical Diagnosis) certification. Additionally, he is certified in the Graston Technique, a leading soft tissue therapy that is utilized by the majority of teams in the NFL, NBA and MLB.
He received his Bachelor’s degree in Exercise and Sports Science, graduating Magna Cum Laude from Florida International University. Prior to coming to the Medical Center he was the manager of Homestead Physical Therapy for five years, overseeing the PT and PTA employees, as well as supervising students from FIU, Nova South Eastern and Kaiser universities.
“There is a growing trend in recognizing the importance of overcoming pain without the use of medication,” Miguel said. “Physical therapy isn’t just for treating injuries or post-operative treatment — you can improve your quality of life by gaining and maintaining movement when utilizing our specialty programs.”
We welcome you to take a tour of the Physical Therapy Department and schedule a consult with one of our professional therapists.
