Introducing Dr. Mary Woods

The Medical Center is pleased to announce the addition of Mary Woods, M.D., to its clinical staff of exceptional providers. Dr. Woods is a family medicine physician with a strong background in primary care and hospital medicine. She is a graduate of the Florida State University College of Medicine in Tallahassee, Florida, and completed her residency at Ascension St. Vincent’s in Jacksonville.
Dr. Woods’ interests have always centered on a passion for community and a dedication to serving others. After graduating from New College of Florida in Sarasota, she moved to Tampa to work at Moffitt Cancer Center. She conducted breast cancer research under the guidance of Dr. Charles Cox while completing her pre-med courses at FSU. At FSU she led interest groups in neurology and geriatrics, but ultimately found herself drawn to family medicine with its all-encompassing care and the longevity of the doctor-patient relationship.
“Residency at St. Vincent’s in Jacksonville offered comprehensive training in full-scope family medicine. I unexpectedly discovered a passion for hospital medicine, the complexity and intensity of inpatient care, as well as a passion for women’s health and geriatrics,” Dr. Woods said.
Since 2017, Dr. Woods has worked as a hospitalist at Baptist Health’s Mariners and Fishermen’s Community hospitals. She continues to be involved in leadership roles, serving as past President and current Vice President of the Medical Executive Committee (MEC) at Fishermen’s and Vice President at Mariners. Additionally, she serves on the Board of Directors of The Good Health Clinic and volunteers her time there as a physician.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Woods enjoys the simple pleasures of life, including spending time with her family, traveling, reading, gardening, and exploring the natural beauty of the Keys.
“What continues to inspire and drive me, as a physician and human being, is a genuine commitment to caring for others, advocating for my patients, continuing to learn, and finding meaning in the connections I’ve built,” Dr. Woods said. “I was drawn to the Medical Center at Ocean Reef because I believe it will enable me to practice medicine the way it was intended to be practiced. I appreciate that the Medical Center prioritizes the physician-patient relationship, and I’m excited to meet each of you, learn about your health goals, and work together to keep you feeling your best.”
Please join us in welcoming Dr. Woods to the Medical Center and the Ocean Reef community. Dr. Woods will be available to see patients beginning in July.
