The Medical Center’s Full-Service Spine Care

Dr. Ronald Tolchin (L) and Dr. Raul Vasquez

The Medical Center’s Visiting Specialists program offers a wide range of specialized fields. To provide comprehensive care, it’s sometimes necessary for duplication of the same specialty. For example, dermatology has many sub-specialties so varied dermatology groups can provide the broadest scope of care. The Skin Center of South Miami, MOHS surgeon Dr. Alysa Herman and the Miami Dermatology and Laser Institute all provide services that treat different dermatological conditions.

Another example of duplication is spine care. Two specialists, Dr. Raul Vasquez and Dr. Ronald Tolchin, are both spine specialists providing excellent treatment with different methodologies. Dr. Vasquez was the featured Medical Center Lecture Series speaker on Jan. 17, and, on April 4, Dr. Tolchin will present “Current Concepts and Management of Low Back Pain.”

Dr. Vasquez is board-certified in neurological surgery and is the director of complex spine surgery at Baptist Health’s Miami Neuroscience Institute. He specializes in the surgical treatment of complex spinal conditions including tumors, degenerative spine diseases, spinal deformities, scoliosis, kyphoscoliosis and neurotrauma. He has unique expertise in minimally invasive techniques.

Dr. Tolchin specializes in all spine-related disorders, sacroiliac joint dysfunction, rheumatologic and soft tissue disorders, scoliosis and osteopathic medicine, along with his research and education. He performs joint and soft tissue injections and osteopathic manipulation, and prescribes all forms of therapy (physical and occupational) and required diagnostics.

These two board-certified spine specialists, in combination with the Medical Center’s Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine Department, provide for excellent spine care — a golf cart ride away.
