Physical Therapy staff show off their new shoes!

Imagine being a healthcare provider in these times of COVID-19. In the thick of things every day, these dedicated and brave individuals deserve a little joy. There is a company that is showing its support to healthcare workers — including those at the Medical Center — in an unusual way: with shoes!

Charleston Shoe Company is a footwear brand that designs women’s shoes that are functional and fashionable. They are lightweight, travel-friendly and machine washable. The company has launched its Healthcare Heroes Campaign dedicated to helping the healthcare workforce. To date it has donated more than 1,800 pairs of shoes to over 25 hospitals in 10 states. What an upbeat way to show healthcare providers they are appreciated and cared about.

The company — a longtime vendor for the Ocean Reef Medical Center Foundation’s annual fund-raiser, Boutique D’Reef — recently donated shoes to all of the ladies at the Medical Center. It was a fun “time-out” for showing off new shoes that are functional for work and leisure.

Our employees join those at other hospitals like Boston Medical, Bronx Montefiore, Naples Community Hospital, New York Presbyterian and Stony Brook Hospital in receiving shoes from Charleston.
