Mental Health: New Visiting Specialists

The Medical Center is pleased to announce additional mental health services with two new providers joining our Visiting Specialists.

Kamal Pathak, M.D., is a board-certified psychiatrist specializing in sleep, substance use, dementia, clinical depression, bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. He graduated from George Washington University and earned his medical degree from VCU School of Medicine in Richmond, Virginia. He completed his residency at the University of Miami and a fellowship at Harvard Medical School in Boston.

Dr. Pathak has a private practice in Miami Beach. His professional experience includes serving as resident physician at the University of Miami and attending physician at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.

Sarah Couper, APRN, FNP, PMHNP-BC, is a psychiatric mental health nurse who has over 30 years’ experience working in a variety of settings. Her areas of expertise include anxiety, depression, ADHD and addiction treatment. She focuses on developing individualized treatment plans which may include psychotherapy, medication management and other therapeutic interventions. Ms. Couper graduated from the University of Miami and earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Barry University. She completed her postgraduate work at Carson-Newman University and Purdue University.
