The Medical Center is pleased to announce the addition of Dr. Monica Taggart, Au.D., of Kendall Audiology and Hearing Aid Center. She received her Doctorate in Audiology with Honors from Nova Southeastern University in 2018 and completed her externship at South Florida ENT Associates where she gained extensive experience in evaluating hearing and balance disorders. Dr. Taggart performs comprehensive diagnostic evaluations on both the adult and pediatric populations as well as hearing aid evaluations and programming and servicing hearing devices. Daisy Elwick, Au.D., another professional from Kendall Audiology and Hearing Aid Center, is also available to see patients at the Medical Center.

Audiologists perform hearing tests, hearing aid fitting, Tinnitus treatment and auditory processing evaluations. The Kendall Audiology and Hearing Aid Center can also assist you with cerumen (wax) removal and fit custom hearing protection. Noise-induced hearing loss can happen with repeated exposure to sound levels above 85 dB (decibels) — the intensity of an idling bulldozer — and can cause permanent, irreparable hearing loss. For example, exposure to loud music, either live or through headphones, can reach an intensity of 100 to 115 dB. While drugstore-variety foam ear plugs can help muffle sounds, custom hearing protection can be a better choice for protecting your hearing.

“I truly enjoy helping patients achieve their greatest quality of life by assisting them in their journey to better hearing,” Dr. Taggart said. “Having hearing loss can be isolating, but it doesn’t have to be that way. We are here to assist you in any way possible to help you enjoy those big and little moments, as well as everything in between.”
