Please join us Tuesday, March 18 at 5 p.m. in the Cultural Centre Theatre for a presentation by Daniel Caplivski, M.D., who will deliver an insightful lecture on the viruses we’ve all come to know, as well as emerging viruses you may not have heard of yet. Learn how to stay safe and healthy, whether your travel plans take you across the country or across the street.

In his presentation titled, “Navigating Health and Safety in the Era of Emerging Viruses and Pathogens,” Dr. Caplivski helps prepare adults for travel to tropical countries where infectious diseases such as malaria may be more prevalent. He is a graduate of the Gorgas Course in Clinical Tropical Medicine in Lima, Peru, and has specialized training in evaluating and treating patients who have acquired illnesses while abroad.

The Gorgas Courses in Clinical Tropical Medicine are held at the Alexander von Humboldt Tropical Medicine Institute, located next to the Tropical Diseases Unit of the Cayetano Heredia Hospital, a major tropical disease referral center in Peru. The diverse geography of the country provides participants with an unparalleled opportunity for firsthand exposure to the unique and wide spectrum of tropical diseases that concentrate in this facility.

Dr. Caplivski is Medical Director, FPA Infectious Diseases and Travel Medicine Professor, Division of Infectious Diseases and Director of the Icahn School of Medicine Travel Medicine Program at Mount Sinai in New York. He has been selected for New York Magazine’s “Best Doctors” issue annually since 2015 and additionally has been selected for the Castle Connolly New York Metro Area’s Top Doctors list annually since 2013.

Please join us after the lecture for a cocktail reception and to meet Dr. Caplivski. Many thanks to the Heathnetwork Foundation for graciously organizing this informative and timely lecture.
