Physical Therapy Month: Let’s Get Started!

MCOR PT & Sports Medicine: Courtney Heiden, Thomas Barreiro, Adriana Gonzalez and Miguel Gonazlez

October is National Physical Therapy Month! Your orthopaedist or physician has determined that you need to improve your strength, balance, pre-surgical or post- surgical recovery. Or perhaps you are determined to work on a beneficial strengthening program or want to work to improve your balance.

Here’s what to do next:

Are you a Medical Center patient? Schedule an appointment at the Medical Center’s Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine Department for an evaluation. The therapists will confirm the correct course of treatment and an action plan.

Not a Medical Center patient? For example: Your northern physician prescribed physical therapy. The Medical Center will establish an account for you with an office visit to keep your physical therapy records, as well as keeping your northern physician informed of your progress. Next, the Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine Department will schedule an appointment for your PT evaluation and plan of action.

The Center’s Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine Department has four outstanding therapists to meet all your therapy needs:

  • Miguel Gonzalez, ATC, PTA, is a seasoned physical therapist who is trained and certified in the Graston Technique, Dry Needling and the McKenzie Method.

Employee of the Month: Cheryl Franklin, RN

  • Thomas Barreiro, DPT, started his professional career as a concierge-based physical therapist in Pinecrest, Florida. He began incorporating Pilates into rehabilitation, enhancing his patient care approach holistically. He has honed his skills in evidence-based treatments and manual therapy techniques.
  • Adriana Gonzalez, DPT, has a broad range of experience working with various patient populations including adolescent athletes, amputees, post-stroke rehab and post-surgical orthopaedic injuries.
  • Courtney Heiden, DPT, has focused her professional career on working with pediatric patients in diverse settings along with neurological, sports and post-stroke, amputee populations and various post-surgical procedures.

These experienced physical therapists are here to assist you with all of your physical therapy needs.

Remember to get your flu shot at the Medical Center. Flu season is quickly approaching!

Congratulations to the Medical Center’s employee of the month, Cheryl Franklin, RN!
