Medical Center Expands Specialist Program with New General Surgery and Colonoscopy Options

The Medical Center has added two general surgeons to its already robust Visiting Specialist program, further expanding the availability of medical services within the Ocean Reef community.

General Surgeon Soni Chousleb, M.D., specializes in minimally invasive robotic procedures. He is certified by the American Board of Surgery and is affiliated with Baptist Health South Florida hospitals, including Mariners Hospital in Tavernier. Dr. Chousleb completed his residency in general surgery at New York’s Weill Cornell Medical College, continuing on to complete his minimally invasive thoracic and foregut surgery fellowship at Boston University School of Medicine.

Colorectal Surgeon Dan Ruiz, M.D., F.A.C.S., specializes in the medical and surgical treatment of conditions affecting the lower digestive tract. He also is certified by the American Board of Surgery and affiliated with Baptist Health South Florida hospitals, including Mariners Hospital. Dr. Ruiz’s presence at Ocean Reef offers a convenient option for our patients, affording them the ability of having colonoscopies and other procedures at Mariners Hospital in Tavernier with Dr. Ruiz.

Dr. Ruiz will be seeing patients at the Medical Center on April 15 and Dr. Chousleb will be at the Medical Center on May 1. For more information or to schedule an appointment, please call Pam Zimmerman at 305-367-6702. You can also visit Dr. Ruiz’s page here and Dr. Chousleb’s page here.
