|
|
The Medical Center is pleased to announce the upcoming addition of three physicians specializing in the fields of hand surgery, dentistry and plastic and reconstructive surgery. All three physicians are board –certified and credentialed in their fields of expertise. These physicians can safely perform many of their specialty procedures in the Medical Center’s modern and fully equipped office -based surgical facilities, including a pre-op and post-op recovery room. Just a golf cart ride away to recuperate in the privacy of your Ocean Reef home.
Dr. John Cassel, a Miami based plastic and reconstructive surgeon was our recent speaker for “Ladies Night Out” this past Tuesday evening. Dr. Cassel is a board certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon who trained at Tufts University, University of Miami, University of Virginia and Cedars-Sinai in Los Angeles. No stranger to Ocean Reef, Dr. Cassel has a long- standing relationship with Ocean Reef and the Medical Center.
Dr. Cassel specializes in cosmetic surgery of the face, eyes, ears, nose, and breasts, liposuction and body contouring, as well as breast reconstruction following mastectomy. Dr. Cassel was one of the first plastic surgeons in Miami to perform the TRAM flap, a sophisticated type of breast reconstruction without implants using the body's own tissues from the abdomen.
Dr. Elizabeth Anne Ouellette, hand surgeon, obtained her medical degree at the University of Texas Medical School. She attended the University of Washington School of Medicine for her orthopedic residency training and came to Miami in 1984 for her hand fellowship at the University of Miami. Following her fellowship she remained at the University of Miami for over 20 years where she achieved the rank of Professor at the Department of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation and was Chief of Hand Surgery at the affiliated Jackson Memorial Hospital. In 2007 she retired from the Department of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation with the title Professor Emeritus. Dr. Ouellette’s office practices are located in Coral Gables and Miami Beach.
Hand surgeons treat many disorders and common problems such as; arthritis at the lower thumb joint, carpal tunnel syndrome, tennis elbow, trigger finger, nerve entrapments and nerve injuries, Dupuytrens Disease and more.
Dr. Ouellette’s special interests are arthritis and improving function of stiff and painful hands and nerve entrapment issues such as carpal tunnel syndrome. She states, “ I love restoring function to peoples hands after stroke, cerebral palsy, and spastic disorders that compromise the function of the hand secondary to central nervous system issues. For many years I have taken care of high level athletes with a special interest in wrist instability.”
Dr. Ouellette will be of added value for the Medical Centers physical therapy department, as they work together in restoring functionality to patients with hand problems.
Manuel R. Seage, D.D.S earned his B.S. from the University of Miami and graduated from Georgetown University of Dentistry. He served his General Practice Residency at Miami Children’s Hospital. In pursuit of excellence he also graduated from the Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies, a world-renowned center for aesthetic and neuromuscular dentistry. He began to transform his practice from general care dentistry to aesthetic dentistry. “ A confident smile will change the way you dress, talk and approach the world”, says Dr. Seage. “Being a part of that transformation is life affirming and humbling”.
Dr. Seage specializes in many forms of aesthetic dentistry including but not limited to: smile design, porcelain veneers, porcelain crowns, non-metal filings and Brite Smile Teeth Whitening. Dr. Seage’s practice is located in Coral Gables, FL.
Please join us in welcoming Drs. Cassel, Ouellette and Seage to the Medical Centers team of visiting specialists.
