Knowing the following could save someone's life ... even your own.
THE IMPORTANCE OF RECOGNIZING SYMPTOMS OF A STROKE.
Stroke is a medical emergency. If someone you are with shows any one
of the following symptoms, call 911 immediately.
*Sudden numbness or weakness of the face, arm or leg, especially on one side of the body.
*Sudden confusion, trouble speaking or understanding.
*Sudden trouble seeing in one or both eyes.
*Sudden dizziness, trouble walking, loss of balance or coordination.
*Sudden severe headache with no known cause.
Another type of stroke is a TIA (transient ischemic stroke). This is a mini-stroke that produces stroke-like
symptoms but does not incur lasting damage. Recognizing and treating TIA’s can reduce the risk of major strokes.
Contact the Medical Center for information about vascular and carotid artery screening tests.
These simple non-invasive tests can help determine if you are at risk of a stroke.
